HomeMy WebLinkAbout11/08/1913 - Adjourned Regular Meeting291 City Hall: Newport Beach. November Bth;1913. The Board of Trustees of the City of Newport Beach,met in adjourned session 2.30 P.M. November 8th,1913. President Bermes called the meeting to order; and there responded to roll call trustees:Albert Hermes ;S.L.Collins;W.K,Parkinson and C.H.Way. Absent trustee: R.J.Stauss. The committe on purchase of land for deposit of refuse,reported through Lew H.Wallace,Chairman, that the land in question could not be had at this time.How -ever the use of the land temporarily was allowed by the owners;the LaHabra Valley Land and Water Co. Who reserve the right to cancel such priveledge if -the Gi-ty allow the matter to be handled in such a way that it becomes a nuisance. Moved by trustee :V.K.Parkinson; seconded by trustee C.H.Way; and carried; that the offer of the LaHabra Land and Water Co of the use of the land as above referred to,be accepted with thanks. On motion of trustee C.H.`Aay;seconded by trustee S.L.Collins and carried; report of committe on purchase of land for refuse deposit was accepted; committe disoharged,and the thanks of the Board extended to Lew H.Wallace - for his active interest in the matter. President Hermes reported visiting the contractors .who are buliding. the wharf at Huntington Beach;who.roughly estimated 'that, such a trestle fid would be required over river on the land side of the S.P.right of w0y; for road purposes,would cost probably not less than 05.00 a lineal foot. Lew H.Wallace reported in the matter of securing an alley -way from the rear of the City -Hall to Bay Ave: and asked th ay the City Engineer be instructednto furnish a plat of what is deeired;that the matter might be laid before the owners of the land. Engineer was so instructed. Moved by trustee W.K.Parkinson that the Street Su t be instructed to plank the River bridge;expenditure not to exceed 300.00- 14otion seconded by trustee S.L.Collins and carried. Mr Engstrom was quoted by President Hermes as saying that he would be willing to undertake the bulk- heading of the channel opposite the Bay - Island at a figure that would make the Citys half of the expense not to exceed41000.00.The clerk was instructed to take the matter uF with Mr 'nLstrcm and have his prcpesition dulysubmitted in vvritine. Moved by trustee S.L.Collins;seconded by trusteeC.H.1ay and carried that adjournment be token to November 2oth,1913.2.30P�Vned. - Clerk.
