The Board of Trustees of the City of Vewport Beach met in regular, session 7 :30 P.M. Monday Sept 4th, 1916. !President Jumper'called the meeting to order and the roll was called showing there were present, Trustees, S. R. Jumper, Gleml Helms, G. P. Wilson, H. A. Robinson% J. C. He Cain, Absent; None. Minutes of the meeting of Aug, 21st, were read and 'approved. Reports of the heads of the various departments for the month of August were read and on motion of trustee, H.A.Rbbinson seconded by trustee, G. P. 7ilson and carried were accepted and filed. Communications were read and referred to proper order of business. HEIV BUSINESS; The Clerk presented the annual budget which proposed tax rate for the current year as follows. Salary fund : 30Y on each 1100.00 property 'valuation. Street fund; 40V on each ;100.00 proper valuation, Current expense fund 301 on each ;100.00 property valuat. To pay bonds and interest 40e on each 0100.00 property valuation. Ordinance A 126 being an Ordinance of the city of Newport Beach levy ing a tax upon all the taxable property In the city of Newport Beach which is taxable therein for municipal purposes, for the fiscal year of 1916 -1917 fixing the tax rate for the ensuing year as follows; for the Salary fund 301, for the Street fund 40Y for the Current expense fund 301 for the retiring of bonds and interest 30V; was presented and read for the second time and was put on final passage on motion of trustee G. P. Wilson seconded by trustee, J. C. McCain and carried by roll call as follows; Ayes; Trustees; S.R.JuYnper, Glenn helms, G.P.,7ilson, H.A.Robinson, J. C. McCain, Noes;None, Absent; None, President Jumper thereupon declared Ordinance ;126 passed. Resolution # being a resolution providing for the exrer_dature of X25,000.00 for the puruose of dredging a channel was read for the first t1me and considered. Moved by trustee H. A. Robinson seconded by trustee, Glenn Helms and carried that the same be passed to second reading and that the fixing of the channel lines be left in the hands of the Harbor committee of the board of trustees. NEW D SINESS:This being the hour and date set for the receiving a nd opening of bids on the proposed street work at East Newport, the clerk was instructed to open the bids on hand which were as follows. A. Robinson seconded by trustee, Glenn Helms and carried that the application of J."S. Stewart to operate a fish mark in the ?arker block be granted. I'loved by trustee G. P. Wilson seconded by trustee, J. C. 1JcCain and carried that License #43 issued to Goodcell & Young, ;126 issued to Byron Hall, #193 issued to Glenn Helms, be cancelled as per the reque of tax and license collector J.A.Porter. Proved by trustee, H.A.Robinson seconded by trustee, J:.C.McCains and carried that the petition for lights along the alley from 26th St to 36th, Street be granted and that the city electrician be instructed to install the same. Moved by trustee G.P.i7ilson seconded by trustee Glenn Helms-and carried that the proposed limes gas lines to the water plant and the garbage pit be referred to the gas committee with power to act. Moved by trustee, G.P.l 'Iilson seconded by trustee, J.C.McCain and carried that a warrant be drawn in the sum of ,120.00 in favor of t Balboa E.'ater Show Ass'n and that the same' be taken out of the Music and promotion fund.k tt Demands 4245 to '329 inclusive were presented approved b.y the finance committee. Moved by trustee, G.P.;Iilson seconded by trustee, Glenn H lms and carried that the demands be allowed and warrants ordered dram. Moved by trustee H.A.Robinson seconded by trustee, Glenn Helms and carried that the City Engineer be instructed to make a map covering the exterior boundaries of the assessment district and the exterior boundaries of the land to be taken to open the street between 23d S- and 30th, Street. Moved' by trustee' H. A. Robinson seconded. by trustee, G.P'.Soilson and carried, that adjournment be taken to 7:30 P.M. Monday, September 11th, 1916. Adjourned. Approved September llth, 1916.
