The Board of Trustees of the City of Newport Beach met in regular session at the place and on the hour above noted. The roll was called and all the Trustees were present as follows: J.P.Greeley,J.J.Schnit er, Geo.P.Wilson;J.C.McCain and L.S.Wilkinson; Trustee L.S.Wilkinson Heights. The committee was meeting. Trustee J.J.Schnitker fence constructed on south have the water . shut off va with. reported on the supplying of water to Newport continued with the request- to-report next was appointed a committee to have lattice side of comfort station on 22nd St.,also to Lve fixed so that it could not be tampered It was moved by Trustee Geo.P.Wilson,seconded by Trustee J.C.MoC''ain and carried that the Street Committee be authorized to purchase a half dozen incinerators for burning trash in the different parts of the cilty. On motion of Trustee J.J.Schnitker,seconded by Trustee L.S.Wilkinson and duly carried by the vote of four - fifths of the Board of Trustees,it was resolved that all bids heretofore received for dredging a channel in Newport Bay be rejected,and that the Board of Trustees have determined and do determine and declare that in its opinion the construction and dredging of a channel in Newport Bay may be more economically performed by day labor and that the materials can be supplied at a lower price !in the open market. The members of the Board of Trustees voting in favor of said resolution are as follows: Trustees J.P.Greeley,J.J.Schnitkeri, Geo.P.Wilson,J.C.McCain and L.S.Wilkinson. Noes,none; absent,none. C�ONFT??MA` -TON OF- ASS?RSSIvfLN'T ,�OP�NING '01- BA`r rrP-. - - - - _ - In re opening of Bay Avenue: Whereas the assessment has been completed I by the Street Superintendent and filed on the 3rd day of June with the diagram attached thereto and made a part thereof; Whereas the Clerk did thereafter publish by three successive insertions in the Newport Newsl, a weekly newspaper published and circulated in the City of Newport Beach, notice of the filing of such assessment and diagram,requiring all persons interested to file their objections to the confirmation of said assessment within thirty days after the date of the first publication of such notice, which was the 8th day of July,1918,and which date,was stated in the notice, Now,therefore,at this,the next regular meeting of the Board of Trustees after the expiration of the time for filing objections,to--wit:the 22nd day- - of July,1918,the Clerk having laid said assessment before said Board of Trustees,and no objection having been filed to the confirmation of such assessment; it is hereby ordered by the Board of Trustees of the Citylof Newport Beach that the assessment made by the Street Superintendent in the matter of the - opening and extension of Bay Avenue be and is hereby confirmed. The above confirmation was adopted by motion of Trustee J.C. McCain,seconded by Trustee- J.J.Schnitker and carried by the affirmative vote by roll call of the following Trustees: J.P.Greeley,J.J.Schnitkex, Geo.P.Wilson,J.C.McCain and L.S.Wilkinson. Noes,none; absent,none. RESOLUTION NO.100. Resolution No.100 was presented. It was moved by Trustee J.C.McC in, seconded by Trustee J.J.Schnitker that the same be adopted.On calling the roll the following Trustees voted Aye: J .P.Greeley,J.J.Schnitker,Geo.P. Wilson,J.C.McCain and L.S.71ilkinson. Noes,none; absent,none; ' The requests of O.M.Brown for permits to operate a fish market and shooting gallery were granted by-motion of Trustee Geo.P.Wilson,secon ed by Trustee J.C.McCain and duly carried. The resignation of Art L.Heard as Plumbing Inspector was accepted by motion of Trustee J.J.Schnitker,seconded by Trustee J.C.McCain and duly carried. The request of Isaac Fields for permit to operate a pool room we granted by motion of Trustee J.J.Schnitker,seconded by Trustee Geo.P. Wilson and duly carried. The plumber's bond furnished by Hill & Son was accepted by motion of Trustee Geo.P.Wilson,seconded by Trustee J.J.Schnitker and carried. I Cti.7_A 279 APPOINTMENT OF PLUMBING INSPECTOR. It was moved by Trustee J.C.McCain,seconded by Trustee Geo.P. Wilson and carried that Wm.McCulloch be appointed Plumbing Inspector. CALL, FOR AN ERECTION FOR SPECIAL TAX LEVY OF 15�. ' It was moved by Trustee Geo.P.Wilson,seconded by Trustee J.C.Me- Cain and duly carried that the Board call a special election for a levy of 15¢ for special promotion purposes. The Board adjourned by motion of Trustee Geo.P.Wilson,seconded by Trustee J.J.Schnitker and carried. i City Clerk. City Hall,Newport Beach,Calif.,Aug.5,19189 7;30 P.M. Schnitker , Geo. P. Wilson, J.C.McCain and L.S.Wilkinson. The minutes of July 12th were read,corrected and approved,those of July 17th- and July 22nd were read and approved as read. The monthly reports of heads of departments were read,and by motion of Trustee Geo.P.Wilson,seconded by Trustee J.J.Schnitker and carried,were accepted and ordered filed. Trustee L.S.Wilkinson reported on the furnishing of water to Newport Heights. Committee was continued. The Committee anpointed for'the investigation of furnishing of electricty for domestic use on Newport Heights by the Edison Co. made report. It was moved b•, Trustee L.S.Wilkinson,seconded by Trusts J.J.Schnitker and carried that7the Street Committee confer with the SO.Calif.Edison Comnany,and notify the City Attorney of the result of said conference,and if the conference is not satisfactory,the City Attorney to take such steps as may seem necessary. In the matter of the Railroad crossings at 26th St. it was moved Trustee L.S.rlilkinson,seconded bir Trustee Geo.P.Wilson and carried t.the City Attorney confer with the Railroad Companies,quoting the ice of the Railroad Commission. Trustee L.S.Wilkinson reported on the camping situation and nded that steps be taken for the city to obtain a certain tract ded with water etc.for campers next season. It was moved by Trustee Geo.P.Wilson,seconded by Trustee J.C.McC� and carried that the Water Superintendent install a water tap-at 15th ' St.and one at end of road at end of sand spit. It was moved by Trustee Geo.P.Wilson,seconded by Trustee J.C.MeC: and carried that Mr.Sharps be authorized to supply the school house toilets with paper for the use of the campers. Trustee J.J.Schnitker reported the completion of lattice on the ,comfort station on 22nd St. The communications were read. The request of Jackson - Norton Co.to stage a set for the Universa. ilm Co.at the Jetty was granted by motion of Trustee J.C.McCai.n,sec- nded by Trustee Geo.P.17ilson and carried.
