It was moved by Trustee Geo.P.,7ilson,seconded by Trustee J.C.McCain and carried that the invitation be accepted. It was moved by Trustee Geo.P.`.7ilson,seconded by Trustee J.C.'Tc and carried that the services of the janitor be dispensed with tempo It. was moved by Trustee J.J.8chnitker,seconded by Trustee J.C.I.I Cain and carried that Trustee L.S.Wilkinson interview 11r.Sharps regarding the continuation of janitor work and report next meeting. The Board of Trustees of the City.of Newport Beach met in regale monthly session. at the hour and place above noted. In the absence of the Chairman it was moved by Trustee L.S.1,7ilkinson, seconded by Trustee J.C.I.IcCain and carried that Trustee J.J.Schnitker act as Chairman. The roll was celled and the following members respor present,Trustees J.J.Schnitker,J.C.I:icCain and L.S.:7ilkinson;;absent, Trustees J.P.Greeley and Geo.P.71ilson. Reports of Heads of Departments were read and ordered €iled,except t] the report of the Street Superintendent regarding the condemnation pi ceedings of Bay Ave.was referred to new business. Trustee L.S.7ilkinson reported on water and light service to the res: dents of Nerrmort Heights and also on the continuance of service of &L Sharps as city janitor. The matter of domestic light service on the Heights was referred to the Street Committee and the City Electriciai for an estimate of the cost of extension. The matter of janitor was referred to the Street Department and the Street Superintendent for report next meeting.. The Communications were read. The letter of the Pacific Electric Co.regarding the crossing at 26th St. was referred to the City Engineer that of the Southern Pacific Cc regarding the same matter was laid over for full meeting of the Boarc The letter of the Tax Association of Alameda Co.was filed; that of Judge T,.B..7est regarding protection of warehouses was also filed. The request of J.A.Porter,City Marshal,for cancellation of Licenses Fos.19,33,41, 137,76, 109,110,127.,65,148,200,212,217 and 136 was gran by motion of Trustee L.S.1ilkinson,seconded by Trustee J.C.McCain a carried. The letter of S.C.Evans of Riverside was filed. In the matter of the letter of the Jackson - Norton Co.giving notice of the discontinuance of the Ferry service to Balboa Island,it was moved by Triistee L. 9.11ilkinson,seconded by. Trustee J.C.IIcCain and carried that 'the Clerk be instructed to notify hir.Norton that the City did no see its way clear at this time to operate the ferry. tker ed CN%A u ri M ORDINANCE. N0.14Q Ordinance No.146 was brought up for final passage. It was moved by Trustee L.S.7ilkinson,seconded by Trustee J.C.I:cCain that Ordinan No.146 be placed upon final passage. The roll was called and the following Trustees voted "Aye ": Trustees J.J.S,chnitker,J.C.QcCain and L.S.°.�ilkinson. Noes,None; absent,Trustees J.P.Greeley and Geo.P.Wilson. Ordinance No.146 was declared duly passed. Referring• to the report of the Street Superintendent regarding the Bay Ave.Condemnation proceedinga,it was moved by Trustee J.C.IicCain seconded by Trustee L.S.Tilkinson and carried that an arpropriation of n73100 be made out of the,General Fund to cover the deficiorcy as reported by the St.Superintendent after sale of lots whose owners failed to pay their assessment,and that a warrant be drawn fi the amount. It was moved by Trustee J.C.Main,seconded by Trustee L.1.7ilkinson and carried that the matter of purchasing a strip of land to connect with the city's acreage at the east end of the sand spit be placed in the hands of the City Attorney,an3 that the City Engineer be in- structed to place in the Attorney's hand all maps and papers necessa, therefor. It was moved by Trustee L.S.'ilkinson,seconded by Trustee J.C.7c0sin and carried that the President and Clerk be authorized to sign up a lease with Fran'_ L ;Reline for a shipbuilding plant after being final: drafted by the City Attorney. It was moved by Trustee J.C.cCain,seconded b7 Trustee L.S.' ?ilkinson and carried that the demands be allowed and warrants ordered drawn t cover. By motion of Trostee h.S.7ilkinson,seconded by Trustee J.C.£icCain an cer-ried,the City Attorney was instructed to make demand for necessar; expenses in determining right of tray for sewer system. By motion of Trustee L.S.rilkinson,seconded by Trustee J.C.McCain an carried,the Clerk was instructed to bring service flag up to date an keep it.so.
