dation to the Board.
The committee appointed are Trustees H. C. Sloan, Geo. P.
Wilson, Treasurer Lew H. Wallace and Deputy City Engineer S. A. Cundiff.
The Clerk was instructed to write a letter of appreciation
to,the Fire Department for the efficient manner and the alertness displayed
at,the fire,in the Summers residence recently.
On motion of Trustee Conrad Richter seconded by Trustee H. C.
Sloan and carried, the Clerk was instructed to advertise for bids for
60,0 feet of 212" Fire Hose for the,Fire Department.

operation of drawbridges, was taken up.and on motion of Trustee Conrad '
Richter seconded by Trustee Geo. P. Wilson and carried, the City Clerk
was instructed to acknowledge receipt of the communication, and state
thatvwe trill try and have our Harbor Master represent the City at the
meeting.
The communication from Raymond G. Osborne in regard to the
worms found in our drinking water, was referred to the Water Superintendent.
Further hearing on the.protests on Resolution of Intention I'o.
250 for vacating a portion of Coast Boulevard, were continued to 7:30
otclock p.m, on C3ednesda7, January 9, 1924.
On motion. of Trustee Geo. P. Nilson seconded by Trustee TI.C.
Sloan and carried, E. i. Burris was employed to take down the balance
of the shore end of the Newport wharf where the new building is to go,
the same to be done under the direction of the Street Committee, Street
Superintendent and City Engineer.
Or_ motion of Trustee L. S. Wilkinson seconded by Trustee Geo,
P. Wilson and carried, that demands No. 943 to 1139 inclusive, having
been signed and approved by the Finance Committee, were allowed and
warrants to be drawn for same.
There being no further business on motion of Trustee H. C.'
Sloan and seconded by Trustee Conrad Richter and carried, the meeting
adjourned to 7:30 otclock p.m. on Wednesday, January 9, 1924.

The Board of Trustees of the City of Newport Beach met in
regular adjourned session at 7:30 o'clock p.?.?. on above date. The
meeting was called to order by President J. J. Schnitker.
The roll was called shooing the full Board presen'.
The_readir_g of the minutes of the previous meeting was or.iitted.
A petition in writing was presented asking that the boundaries
of the City of Newport 'Beach be altered and new territory annexed
thereto, incorporated and included therein and made a part thereof.
The petition was ordered filed and taken up for consideration,
evidence was introduced and documentary proof .-ras presented from rhieh
the Board of Trustees find as follows:
(1) The petition is in writing, and is signed by qualified
electors residing within the territory therein described as st.oim by
the registration of voters of Orange County in which such territory is
situated; that the signers collectively constitute more than one - fourth
in number of all the qualified electors residing therein.
(2) The territory sought to be annexed is described in the
petition as follows: located in the County of Orange, State of
California, and
Beginning at a point in the northeasterly boundary line of
the City of Newport Beach, which point is the intersection of the south -,
westerly prolongation of the northwesterly line of 27th Avenue, as 27th ,

thence northeasterly along the aforesaid southwe- sterly prolongation of
the northwesterly line of 27th Avenue, and the northwesterly line of 27th

northeasterly prolongation of the rnorthlresterly line of 27th Avenue
intersects the northwesterly prolongation of the northeasterly line of

southeasterly alon[- the northwesterly prolongation of the northeasterly
line of Corona del Ilar, and along the northeasterly line of Corona del E_ar

general southwesterly direction following along the center line of the
water course of the aforesaid Buck Gully to its intersection with the

three (3) miles into the Pacific Ocean to a point; thence northwesterly
along a line parallel to, and three (3) miles distant from the ordinary
hig'i tide line of the Pacific Ocean to a point; .-ihich point is the most
southerly corner of the City of Hewport Beach; thence northeasterly
along the southeasterly- boundary line of the City of Hetivport Beach, and
northwesterly along the northeasterly boundary line of the City of
Fewport Beac'n to the place of beginning.
The said rie•.i territory is known as, designated and referred to
as CO] "OJT I DEL ' '1R.
The territory is contiguous tn the City of ire,,-rport Beach, forms
no part of any other municipal corporation, and no petition for the
annexation thereof to any ot_2er municipal corporation has ever been
ci rcula'Ied, signed or filed.
Trustee H. C. Sloan thereupon presented a Resolution calling a
special election for the purpose of submitting to the electors residing
in the territory proposed by the petition to be annexed to the City of
Plewport Beach, the question whether such territory shall be annexed to,
incorporated in, and made a part of the City of herport Beach, fixing the
date of the election, directing the giving of notice of the election,
designating and establishin„ a voting precinct for that purpose, and the
place at which the polls :rill be opened for such election, appointing the
.officers of such election, describing the territory sought to be annexed
' and directing the electors in such territory to vote upon such question.

The'Resolution :ra.s ordered filed, read, considered, designated
Resolution -Ho. 282, the roll was called and the Resolution passed by the

Fire Chief Jackson referred to the leal:y fire hall roof and
stated ,,e needed done parts for the fire engine, and on motion of Trustee
H. C. Sloa-n seconded by Trustee Geo. P. '.'dilson and carried, the City Clerk
was "empo,�:rered to Have t'e fire hall roof repaired, purchase a nevi siren,
4 spot lights and 12 hydrant wrenches for the Fire Department.
7-ere being no furtvier business on motion of Trustee 1T. C. Sloan
seconded by Trustee I.I. S. Wilkinson and carried, the meeting adjourned
