The matter of oil wells having their exhausts muffled and those along
public streets being boarded up on the street side to prerlent oil from
,:. going into the streets was referred to city marshall J.A.Porter.
".. Captain t "I.F.Spofford read a report to the board in which certain
changes in the Harbor Department were suggested and on motion of Trustee
Richter seconded by trustee Sloan and carried, the report was accepted
and ordered filed.
On motion of Trustee Wilkinson, seconded by trustee Young and
carried,the demands were allowed and warrants ordered drawn.
There being no further.business, on motion of trustee Wilkinson
seconded by Trustee Sloan, and carried, the meeting was adjourned Sine Die.

City Hall, Newport Beach, Oct. 20, 1924.
Pursuant to a call thereof by the President of the Board of Trustees
and notice delivered to each member at least three hours before the time
specified for the meeting, the Board of Trustees ,met-bt'the place-and,on
the date above mentioned at 7;30 o'clock P.M.
The meeting was called to order by President Geo. P.Wilson. The
roll was called showing the full board present.
The call was read and the Board proceeded to consider the subject
for which the meeting was called.
A recommendation,setting forth his advice to the Board of
Trustees, as to the action to be taken in the case was received from the
City Attorney and read by the Clerk of the Board. Thereupon the
communication was considered and ordered filed for a matter of record.
On.motion of trustee Sloan, seconded by Trustee Young, and
upon call of the roll by a vote of the following named, Ayes, Trustees
Wilson, S1oan,.Young, Richter and Wilkinson. Noes, Trustees, None.Absent
Trustees, None.
Resolution was made as follows:
The Board of Trustees of the City of Newport Beach require Lew H.
Wallace, as.Treasures of said City, to account in writing to the amity of
Newport Beach for all money belinging to said city deposited by him in
the name of Lew H.Wallace in any bank banks, or other depositaries,
together with any interest, income, or profit received therefrom,together
with any interest paid by him to the city of Newport Beach,.or to the
credit thereof, for the use of said money from the date of his first
qualification as Treasurer of the City of Newport Beach to the date hereof.
The Board of Trustees of the city of Newport Beach request.and
.-call upon the First National Bank of Newport Beach and any other bank or
banks or depositaries to account to the city of Newport Beach for all
interest, income, revenue or profit received, collected, or obtained by
hny such bank, banks or depositaries for the loan of any money, the
property of the city of Newport Beach, deposited therin by Lew H.Wallace,
City Treasurer Wallace, having been granted permission to speak
stated that the First National gBank and the City Treasurer would give
every assistance towards a speeZly conclusion of the investigation. That
any amount.set would be paid to the City o£ i�evvport Beach, but asked that a
certified accountant be obtained to go over all the books and finally
that the City of Newport Beach.bring friendly suit against the city
Treasurer to establish to the satisfaction of all concerned the final,
exact amount to be paid.
City Attorney Clyde Bishop, .having been given the floor, made a
scathing denunciation of Mr.Lee Pfau's attack upon him. Mr. Bishop
compared the 'deposition made by City Treasurer Levi H.IrVallace and Mr Lee
Pfau's published interpretation of the same and showed and stated that
Mr.Lee Pfau's statement about him (Clyde Bishop) was without foundation and
based upon falsehood.

On motion of trustee Wilkinson seconded by trustee Richter, a
certified public accountant was ordered employed to go into all
records necessary to clear up the matter on hand. President Geo. P.Wilson
being an officer of the First National Bank of Newport Beach, was excused
from voting upon the motion. Thereupon the roll was called the vote being
cast in the following manner.
Trustee Sloan in the Clhair.
Ayes; Trustees Sloan, Young, Richter and Wilkinson.
Noes; Trustees, None.
Absent Trustees, None.
President,Geo.P.'Jlilson, not voting.
It visa moved by trustee Richter and seconded by trustee Young, tha
chairman Pro Tem. Sloan appoint a committee of two city Trustees
and one citizen to investigate and report on the selection of a
certified public Accountant for the audit of books of the City
Treasurer and First National Bank of Newport Beach to determine the amount
of interest due on city funds.
The roll was then called, the trustees voting in the following
manner. Ayes: Trustees, Sloan, Young, Richter and Wilkinson.
Noes; Trustees None.
Absent; Trustees None
President Geo.P.Wilson excused from voting.
President Pro Tem. Sloan requested time in which to thinkover
the matter before appointing the committee which request was unanimously
granted. There being no further business, on motion of trustee Wilkinson
seconded by trustee Richter and carried the meeting was adjourned.

City Hall Newport Beach, Oct. 24, 1924.
Purauant to a call thereof by the president of the Board of
Trustees and notice delivered to each member at least three hours before
the time specified for the meeting, the board of trustees met at the
place and on the date above ment16ned at 700 o'clock P.P.l..
The meeting was called to order by President Geo.P.Vlilson
The roll was called shorting the full board present. The call was read
and the board proceeded to consider the subject for which the meeting
was called.
A representative of the Kelly Gaul Co., Mr. Lewis addressed
the Board, giving his bid of 035.00 per day for senior accountant and
$15.00 per day for Junior accountants and said that a reasonable expense
account would also he necessary for hotel bills meals ect.
Mr. Crenshaw, of the Albine Johnson Co., was then called upon
and called attention of the Board to the fact that he was familiar
with the city auditing and as the firm had an office in Santa Ana, that
would be no hotel bil s.
The bid of The Albine E.Johnson Co., was $15. per day, for
accountant doing detail work and $25.00 per day for senior accountant..
. After some discussion on motion of trustee Willinson seconded
by trustee Young, it was moved that the Albine E.Johnson Co. be employed
the work as per their submitted bid. Thereupon the roll was called the
Trustees voting in the following manner.
Ayes: Trustees Wilson, Sloan, Young, Richter and Wilkinson
Noes; Trustees None,
Absent; Trustees, None.
There.being no further business on motion of trustee Wilkinson
seconded by trustee Richter, and carried, the eetin was adjourned.
