Brown, City Clerk - 949-644-3005, <br />( <br />PREPARED BY: Jennifer Nelson, Assistant City Clerk <br />TITLE: Confirmation of Citizen Appointments and Increase in the Number of <br />Council Member Representatives to the Homeless Task Force <br />ABSTRACT: <br />At the March 26, 2019 City Council Meeting, the City Council formed a Homeless Task <br />Force that consists of seven (7) community members and two (2) Council Member <br />representatives all appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council. The <br />Homeless Task Force is responsible for (1) developing strategies to integrate all services <br />needed to address homelessness, (2) developing a list of community partners to assist in <br />addressing homelessness, (3) reviewing temporary housing solutions, (4) developing a <br />metrics system to monitor the reduction of homeless, and (5) periodically reporting <br />findings back to the City Council. For consideration is the confirmation of the community <br />members appointed by the Mayor and increasing the membership from two (2) to three <br />(3) Council Members. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />a) Determine that the action is exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act <br />(CEQA) pursuant to Sections 15060(c)(2) and 15060(c)(3) of the CEQA Guidelines <br />because it will not result in a physical change to the environment, directly or indirectly; <br />b) Confirm Mayor Diane B. Dixon's appointments of Helen Cameron, John Heffernan, <br />Terry Moore, Thomas Peterson, David Snow, Cindy Voorhees and Jean Wegener to <br />the Homeless Task Force; <br />c) Adopt Resolution No. 2019-42, A Resolution of the City Council of the City of Newport <br />Beach, California, Amending the Membership of the Homeless Task Force; and <br />d) Confirm Mayor Diane B. Dixon's appointment of Council Member Joy Brenner to serve <br />as a third City Council representative to the Homeless Task Force. <br />FUNDING REQUIREMENTS: <br />There is no fiscal impact related to this item. <br />3-1 <br />
