Y, i( Y <br />ORDINANCE NO. 357. <br />AN ORDLQANCE AMENDLYG <br />SECTION 33 OF ORDINANCE <br />NO 315 OF THE CITY OF NEW <br />! PORT BEACH. <br />The City Council of the City of •I <br />Newport Beacii do ordain as fol- <br />lows: <br />Section 1. Section 33 of Ordin, <br />ante No. 345 of the City of New- <br />port Beach is hereby amended to <br />read as follows: <br />"PARIING LIMITED IN SPECI- <br />FIED PLACES. <br />The operator of a vehicle shall <br />not park such vehicle for longer <br />than fifteen (15) minutes on the <br />i east side of Ocean Boulevard be- <br />tween Twenty -First Street and <br />Twenty- Second Street, between the <br />hours of eight o'clock A. M. and <br />seven o'clock P. M. on any day, <br />and subject to the special restric- <br />tions imposed by Sections 31 and <br />32, and ,provided further that it <br />shall be unlawful for an operator <br />of a vehicle to park such vehicle <br />for longer than one (1) hour within <br />the central traffic district or any <br />business district between the hour <br />of eight o'clock A. M. and seven <br />o'clock P. M. on any day, and sub- <br />ject to the special restrictions im- <br />posed by Sections 31 and 32, and <br />subject to the fifteen (15) minute <br />period hereinbefore Specified. <br />Signs shall be erected and main- <br />tained not more than one hundred <br />fifty (150) feet apart in each block <br />designating the provisions of this <br />section." <br />Section 2. The words "Vending <br />Machine' as used in this Ordin- <br />ance are Intended to mean, shall <br />mean and embrace any mechanical <br />contrivance, apparatus or machine, <br />which, by the operation thereof, <br />releases or discharges any article <br />of merchandise to or for the use <br />and benefit of the person operating <br />the same and which is operated by <br />the ,placing therein of any coin, <br />'disk, slug, ball or other object. <br />Section 2. The words "Penny <br />Arcade" as used in this Ordinance) <br />! are intended to mean and shall, <br />mean a business of running a'i <br />penny arcade or a place of amuse- <br />ment where coins, slugs, checks or <br />other representatives of value are <br />used, dropped or placed in any mu -' <br />'sic box, phonograph, picture ma- <br />ebine or other device or apparatus <br />used for the purpose of furnishing <br />entertainment or tests of skill or <br />strength. <br />Section 3. Vending machines as <br />herein defined which shall be op- <br />erated by the placing therein of a <br />coin, disk, slug, ball or other ob- <br />i ject representing a value of not to <br />exceed one cent (1c), shall pay an- <br />nually to the City of Newport <br />Beach, a license fee of $2.00 for <br />•I each and every vending machine <br />, sed, operated or erected in the <br />City of Newport Beach.
