HomeMy WebLinkAbout463 - Master Plumber & Journeyman Plumber Fees0 • 11 0– ORDINANCE NO. 463 The City of Newport Beach, by and through its City Council, does ordain as follows: Section 1. Sections 18, 22, 25 and 26 of Ordinance No. 379 of the City of Newport Beach, are hereby amended to read as fol- lows: "Section 18. EXAMINATION FEES. The fee for examination by said examining board of plumb- ers shall be $25.00 for each Mas- ter Plumber, and $2.50 for each Journeyman Plumber, for each examination, payable in advance to the Secretary of such Board, and in addition thereto the appli- cant shall pay the license fee pro- vided for by this ordinance in ad- vance, which license fee shall be returned in case applicant for the certificate hereinafter provided for, shall be unsuccessful. No fee shall be charged for renewal of certificates, but on a renewal of a certificate as hereinafter provided for, the license fee for the fiscal year shall be paid." "Section 22. CERTIFICATES. The Examining Board of Plumb- ers shall give an examination to each applicant for a certificate to do plumbing work in the city of Newport Beach, on the second Tuesday of the following months: March, June, September and De- cember, in each year, commencing with the year 1938, and shall con- tinue from day to day until such examination shall be completed. The applicant for a certificate shall file an application therefor and pay the fees in advance as provided for by Section 18; and in addition thereto shall pay the license fee as provided for -by Section 4 of this ordinance and amendments thereto, and every applicant passing such examin- ation to the satisfaction of said Examining Board shall receive from said board a certificate of competency as a Master Plumber or a Journeyman Plumber in ac- cordance with his application; and such certificate of competency shall authorize the holder thereof to do plumbing work in the City of Newport Beach until the first day of July next succeeding the date thereof." "Section 25. CERTIFICATE RENEWALS. All certificates is- sued by the Examining Board of Plumbers shall expire on the last day of June of each year unless sooner revoked. Every Masten Plumber or Journeyman Plumber holding a certificate of com- petency issued by said Exam- ining Board of Plumbers may, during the month of June of each year, by paying the annual li- cense fee provided for by Section 4 hereof, make application to the Examining Board of Plumbers for an extension of such certificate of competency for an additional year and said Examining Board of Plumbers, if satisfied that the holder of such certificate of competency is competent to do plumbing work, and if said license fee for the fiscal year shall have been paid as provided for by Sec- tion 4 hereof, shall grant an ex- tension of such certificate of com- petency for an additional year without an examination. Any plumber failing to make such ap- plication to obtain such extended certificate of competency as here- in provided, shall not do any plumbing work in the city of New- port Beach, after the expiration of the certificate of competency then held by him without taking the examination and paying the full examination fee and license fee as herein provided for persons originally desiring to do plumbing work in the City of Newport Beach." "Section 26. AGE LIMIT. No person shall receive a certificate of competency as a Master Plumb- er who has not attained the age of twenty -one years." Section 2. The above and fore- going ordinance shall be published once in NEWPORT NEWS, a newspaper of general circulation printed, published and circulated in the city of Newport Beach, and shall take effect and be in force thirty days from and after its passage. I hereby certify that the above and foregoing ordinance was to- traduced at a regular meeting of the city council of the city of Newport Beach held on the 3rd day of January, 1938, and was finally passed and adopted on the 7th day of February, 1938, by said City Council, at a regular meeting thereof, by the following vote, to- wit: AYES, Councilmen: Gordon Claire, Whitson, Brown, William- son.
