HomeMy WebLinkAbout464 - Examining Board of Electricians0 0 A E W • ORDINANCE NO. 464 The City of Newport Beach by and through its City Council does ordain as follows: Section 1. Sections 34 and 35 of Ordinance No. 385 of the City of Newport Beach are hereby amended to read as follows: "Section 34. The examining board of electricians of the City of Newport Beach shall meet for the purpose of giving examin- ations as herein provided on the first Tuesday in the month of March, 1938, and quarterly there- after on the first Tuesday in the months of June, September and December, of each year hereafter. The examining board of elec- tricians of the City of Newport Beach shall consist of the City Electrician, the Building Inspector and two master electricians. The examining board, other than the City Electrician, shall be appoint- ed by and shall serve during the pleasure of the City Council of the City of Newport Beach. The examining board to act without compensation therefor." "Section 35. The fee for ex- amination by said examining board of electricians shall be $25.00 for each master electrician, and $2.50 for each journeyman electrician, for each examination, payable in advance to the Secre- tary of said Board, and said fee shall be paid by the Secre- tary of said Board to the City Treasurer of the City of Newpo°c Beach on the first day of each calendar month. It is further pro- vided that if application. accom- panied by license fee for the fiscal year, shall be made for renewal of certificates as herein provided for, at the time and in the manner herein provided for, no fee shall be charged for the renewal of r:uch certificates. Any electrician failing to make such application to obtain such extended certificate of competency as herein provided for, shall not do any electrical work in the city of Newport Beach after the ex- piration of the certificate of com- petency then held by him without taking the examination and pay- ing the full examination fee and license fee as herein provided for persons originally desiring to do electrical work in the city of New- port Beach." Section 2. The above and fore- going ordinance shall be published once in NEWPORT NEWS, a newspaper of general circulation printed, published and circulated in the city of Newport Beach, and shall take effect and be in force thirty days from and after its passage. I hereby certify that the above and foregoing ordinance was in- troduced at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Newport Beach held on the 3rd day of January, 1938, and was finally passed and adopted on the 7th day of February, 1938, by said City Council, at a regular meet- ing thereof, by the following vote, to -wit: A Y E S, Councilmen: Gordon, Claire, NVhitson, Brown, William son.
