HomeMy WebLinkAbout541 - Permits for Houses Less than 600 Square FtMMNA14dE i:6: 54i WHEREAS, many applications tare now being made for permits for the erection and construction 6f pre - fabricated houses and small houses containing less than 600 ?im are feet of floor area for ground floor or first story of dwelling houses in the City of Newport Beach; and WHEREAS, in the opinion and judgment of the City Council of the City of Newport Beach, a horse containing less than 600 square feet of floor area, exclusive of the area of garage floor, is detrimental to building in the City of Newport Beach and is detri- mental to owners of property and tas, avers in the City of Newport $each; and a house of less dimen- sions than herein specified con - stifutes a menace to life, property and health in the City of Newport Beach; and it is further the judg- Fnefit and opinion of the City Council of the City of Newport Beach that no permit should be issued for the erection, construc- tion or moving into the City of Newport Brach of any dwelling house containing less than 600 square feet of floor area insofar as the first story or ground floor of said d welling house is concerned; NOW, THP:.REFO)RE. the City of Newport Beach, by and through its City Council, does ordain as follows: Section 1. Any person, firm; or corporation, whether as principal, agent, employee, or otherwise, violating any provisions of this ordinance, shall be guilty of a mis- demeanor and, upon conviction thereof, shall be Punishable by a fine of not more than three hun- dred dollars ($,00.00) or by im- prisomvent in the City Jail for a term not exceecling three (3) months, or by both Stie_h fine and imnrironment. Such person, firm or corporation Shall be deemed guilty of a separate offense for each and every day dtxiag any portion of which any violation of this ordinance is committed, con- tinued or permitted by such per- son, firm or corporation, and shall be punishable as herein provided,. This Ordinance shall take effect thirty (30) days from and after its adoption and, after its adoption, shall be published at least once in Newport Balboa News- Times. a semi - weekly news- paper printed and published in the City of Newport Beach. said pub- lication to be made not later than ten (10) days from its'adontion.
