ORDINANCE NO. 609
AN ORDINANCE. AMENDING
SECTION 6406 OF THE MUNI-
CIPAL. CODE OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH AND
MAKING THE RULES AND
REGULATIONS OF THE
STATE BOARD OF EQUALI-
ZATION PERTAINING TO
SALES AND 13SE TAX AND
EFFECTIVE OCTOBER 1,
1949, APPLICABLE TO CITY
SALES AND USE TAX.
The City Council of the City of
Newport Beach does o r d a i n as
follows:
'SECTION 1: Section 6406 of the
'12unicipal Code is hereby amend-
ed by deleting therefrom the
words and figures, "July 1, 1948"
and inserting in lieu thereof the
words and figures as follows, to
wit: "October 1, 1949 ".
SECTION 2: The C 1 t y Council
hereby declares that the foregoing
amendment is necessitated by an
amendment to t h e State Sales
and Use Tax Act m ad e by the
legislature of the State of Califor-
nia and effective on the 1st day of
October, 1949 and is therefore de-
:lared to be an urgency measure
and that this ordinance shall be-
come effective immediately upon
its final passage.
SECTION 3: T h i s ordinance
shall be published at least once in
the Newport - Balboa P r e s s, a
newspaper of general circulation
printed and published in the City.

I hereby certify that the above'
and foregoing ordinance was in-
troduced at a regular meeting of
the City Council of the City of
Newport Beach held on the 26th
day of September, 1949 and was
finally passed and adopted on the
10th day of October, 1949, by the
following vote, to wit:
AYES, Councilmen Greeley,
Robertson, Isbell, Blue, Drake.
NOES, Councilmen, None.
ABSENT, Councilmen, None.
DICK DRAKE,
Mayor.
