ORDINANCE NO. 020
ORDINANCE AMENDING SEC-
TION 2402 OF THE MUNICI-
PAL CODE OF THE CITY OF
NEWPORT REACH TO PRO -
VIDE FOR THE APPOINT-
MENT OF CHIEF OF THE
FIRE DEPARTMENT.
The City Council of the City.
of Newport Beach does ordain as
follows:
SECTION 1: Section 2402 of
the Municipal Code of the. City
of Newport Beach is h e r e b y
amended to read as follows, to
wit:
'Section 2402. Chief of the Fire
Department. The Chief of the Fire
Department shall be appointed by
the City Manager from among,
the membership of the City Fire
Department. and after appoint-
ment shall be removed or reduced
in rook at the pleasure of the
a.ppoioting power a n d without
charges being filed and without
hearing. The dismissal of the
Chief of the, Fire Department
f r n•m office. except for cause,
Shall not accomplish his dismissal
from the delrnrtment, and, such
dismissal, he sfialr be restored to
tho rank' 111d grade held by him
pri -r to his appointment as Chief
of the Fire Department"
SECTION 2: This ordinance
shall be, published at least once
in file Newport Balboa Press, a
newspaper of general circulation
printed and published in the City
of Newport Beach and shall be
in force and effect 30 days after
the final passage thereof.
The above and foregoing ordi-
nance was introduced at a regu-
lar meeting of the City Council
Of the City of Newport Beach
held on the 10th day of April,
1950. and was finally passed and
adopted on the 24th day of April,
1950, by the followingvote, to wit:

Drake. Greeley, Blue Isbell
NOES, COUNCILMEN None
ABSENT, COUNCILMEN None
