HomeMy WebLinkAbout642 - Swimming Areas 5 & 6ORDINANCE NO. 642 =SAN O Ii D I N A N C E ADDING SWIMMING AREAS NUM- BERS 5 AND 6 TO SECTION 10157 OF THE MUNICIPAL .CODE OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH The City Council of the City of Newport Beach does ordain as fol- 'lows: SECTION 1: There are hereby ,added to Section 10157 of the Mu- �.,nicipal Code of the City of New - :;port Beach, the following addi- tional protected swimming areas, :legally described as: "Swimming Area No. 5: Begin- ning at a point in the U. S. Bulk- head Line between U. S. Station 116 and U. S. Station 117, said .,point of beginning being 50 feet Southeasterly of the Southeasterly .line of 10th Street; thence South- easterly along said U. S. Bulkhead Line a distance of 200 feet; thence Northeasterly parallel to said 10th Street to an intersection with the U. S. Pierhead Line; thence North- westerly along said U. S. Pierhead Line a distance of 200 feet; thence :Southwesterly to the point of be- .ginning. Swimming Area No. 6: Begin- ning at :a point in the East Jetty of the Newport Harbor, said point of beginning being 450 feet South- erly of the Mean High Tide Line of the Pacific Ocean; thence East- erly, parallel to and 450 feet South- erly of said Mean High Tide Line, a distance of 850 feet; thence due • North to an intersection with said y4ean High Tide Line; thence Westerly along said Mean High' 'Tide Line to the East Jetty; thence Southerly along said East Jetty to,� the point of beginning." SECTION 2: This ordinance is hereby declared to be an emer- gency measure necessary for the" immediate preservation of the pub-_ he peace, health and safety and.. ' shall take effect immediately. The' .following is a statement of the' facts showing its urgency. With the approach of the sum- mer season and the greater use of the waters of the harbor and the ocean by swimmers and vessels; thus endangering the lives of swimmers in non - protected swim- . ming areas, it is deemed necessary and expedient that this ordinance pass and take effect immediately _ in order to protect the lives of swimmers. ' SECTION 3: This ordinance' •— shall be published at least once in the Newport Harbor Ensign, a - - newspaper of general circulation, printed and published in the City,• of Newport Beach, and shall be in . . force and effect immediately upon ' the final passage thereof. ' The above and foregoing ordi- nance was introduced at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Newport Beach held on the ' 25th day of June, 1951 and was finally passed and adopted on the 9th day of July, 1951, by the fol- lowing vote, to wit: AYES, COUNCILMEN: Finch, Ramsey, Greeley, Blue, Isbell 'DOES, COUNCILMEN: None ABSENT, COUNCILMEN: None' L.
