ORDINANCE No. 648
AN ORDINANCE PRESCRIBING
CHARGES FOR WATER SERV-
ICE CONNECTIONS AND RE-
CONNECTIONS
The City Council of the City of
Newport Beach does ordain as fol-
lows :
. SECTION 1: Section 7208 of
The Municipal Code of the City of
Newport Beach is amended to read
as follows:
"Section 7208. Service Fees. The
fees for the installation of water
.services or for enlarging those al-
ready in shall be as follows:
For a three - fourths inch
service . .........................$35.00
For a one -inch service ---- $45.00
For a one and one -half
, inch service ..................$55.00
For a two -inch service..$80.00
For sizes larger than two inches,
nor where it becomes necessary to
open paved street, the actual cost
of labor and material in laying
such a service and replacing the
pavement shall be charged plus
ten per cent for overhead. In such;
cases the cost of material and la-
bor shall be estimated by the
Water Department and the esti-
mated cost shall be paid to the
Water Department by the person,
applying for such installation be-
fore the work of connecting the -
main with the property is begun:
Whenever the estimated cost is not -
sufficient to cover the total ex-
pense for labor and material, the
deficit shall be charged to the pro-
perty for which such installation
was made and to the owner there-
of. Any excess payment shall be
returned to the person applying
fbi the installation."
SECTION 2: Section 7216 of
the Municipal Code of the City of
.Newport Beach is herebv amended
to read as follows:
"Section 7216. Turn -on Charges.
When water service to any prem-
ise has been turned off because of
non - payment of bill or violation
of any of the provisions of this
Chapter, or ordered turned off by
the owner or tenant, and the said -
water service remains turned off.
for..not more than 15 days from
the.date of the turn -off, a charge
of Two Dollars and fifty cents
f$2.50) shall be made and col -
]feted for each service on the
premises before water service will
be restored. When such water
service has been so turned off and
remains turned off for more than
I5. days, a charge of Ten Dollars
($10.00) shall be made and col=
lected for each service on the
premises before water service will
-'be restored."
SECTION 3: This ordinance
shall be published at least once
in the Newport Harbor Ensign, a
newspaper of general circulation,
printed and published in the City
of Newport Beach and shall take
effect 30 days after its final pas-
sage.
The foregoing ordinance was
introduced at a regular meeting of
the City Council of the City of
Newport Beach held on the 13th
day of August, 1951, and was fin-
ally passed and adopted on the
27th day of August, 1951, by the
following vote, to wit:
AYES, COUNCILMEN: Ramsey,
Greeley, Blue, Isbell`,.".
NOES, COUNCILMEN: None
