SSESSION OF THE POLICY,
DEPARTMENT.
The City Council of the City of
Newport Beach does hereby or-
dain as follows:
SECTION 1: There is hereby
added to the Municipal Code of
the City of Newport Beach Sec-
tions 3404 and 3405 to read as
follows:
"Section 3404. Unclaimed Pro-
perty." All property coming into
the possession of the Police De-
partment of the City of Newport
Beach, the ownership of which, is
unknown to the Police Depart-
ment, and which said property re-
mains unclaimed, shall be retained
by the Pollee Department for a
period of six months from receipt
of same in a safe place.
"Section 3405. Notice oY sale of
Unclaimed Property. At any time
after the expiration of the six
month period set by Section 3404,
the Chief of Police shall give no-
tice of the time and place of an
intended sale of such unclaimed
property by publication of such
notice in a newspaper of general
' circulation, printed and published
in the City of Newport Beach, said
publication to take place at least
five days before the time fixed
for such intended sale. At the
time and place set in -the notice
for such sale, the Chief of Police,
or any other officer of the Police
Department, shall sell such pro-
perty at public auction to the
highest bidder, for cash. The re-
ceipts of such sale shall accrue
to and be deposited in the Gen-
oral Fund of the City of Newport
Beach. Any property not sold at
such sale shall be destroyed."
SECTION 2: This Ordinance
shall be published once in the
Newport- Balboa Press, a news-
paper of general- circulation, print-
ed and published in the City of
'Newport Beach, and the same
shall be in full force and effect
30 days after this publication.
The foregoing Ordinance was in-
troduced at a regular meeting of
the City Council of , the City of
Newport Beach, held on the 8th
,day of February, 1954, and was
finally passed and adopted on the
23rd day of February, 1954, by the
following vote, to wit:
AYES, Councilmen: Smith,
'Finch, Isbell, Bennett, Miller.
NOES, Councilmen: None
ABSENT Councilmen: None
