HomeMy WebLinkAbout883 - License FeesE 0 • ORDINANCE NO. 883 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH AMEND- ING SECTION 6200 OF THE NEWPORT BEACH MUNICI- PAL CODE RELATING TO LI. CENSE FEES. The City Council of the City of Newport Beach does ordain as follows: SECTION 1: Section 6200 of the Newport Beach Municipal Code is amended to read: "Section 6200. Basic License Fee. Every person carrying on the following named busi. nesses shall pay an annual license fee of $25.00: Accountant Advertising, outdoor, except- ing advertising of licensee's own goods on his own premises Airplane, passenger or freight (Council approval) Alcoholic beverage, on sale (Council approval) Ambulance service (Council approval) Architect Artist Art Studio Attorney at Law Auditor Automobile: for hire (Coun- cil approval) ; accessories; dealers, new and used cars; automotive service station; wrecking Awning and tent supply Bail bond Bait and tackle shop Bakery Barber shop Bath house Beauty parlor Beverage, off -sale liquor, wherever located Bicycle, including rental Billiard or Pool Hall (Coun. cil approval) Blueprint service Boats: fishing barge, sight- seeing, U- Drive, live bait and watercraft for hire (Council approval) 'Live bait boat' is a boat which sells live bait. Boats: charter Books and stationery Bowling alley Broker, insurance Broker, real estate Broker, stocks and bonds Broker, yacht Broker, any other separate broker business Building and loan associa- tions Cabinet shop Camera and photographic supplies Canning or preserving plant Catering Chemist Chiropodist Chiropractor Clothing Cold storage locker Collection agency or credit bureau Contractor: general engin. eering; general building; in. sulation, boiler; hot water heating; steam fitting; cabinet and mill work; cement and concrete; electrical (general) ; elevator installation; excavat. ing; grading; trenching; pav- ing, surfacing; flooring (wood); fire protection engin- eering; glazing; warm air he a t i n g; ventilating; air conditioning; house and building moving; wrecking; stuctural pest control; orna- mental metals; lathing; land- scaping; masonry or chimney contracting; painting; decorat- ing; paperhanging; plaster- ing; plumbing; refrigeration; roofing; sewers, drains, pipe laying, sewage disposal; sheet metal; electric signs; steel, re- inforcing; steel, structural; tile (Ceramic and mosaic); water well drilling; welding; swim- ming pool; classified special- ist. A general contractor or sub- contractor engaging in or conducting other business otherwise subject to the pay- ment of a separate business license fee as provided in this Article, shall pay the same fee for each such busi- ness as otherwise provided in this Article. Gift shop Grocery store or market Hardware and appliances Hotel, motel, rooming house, boarding house, auto court, trailer park, bungalow court, or inn Interior decorator Janitor or cleaning service Jobber Junk dealer or maintaining a junk yard (Council approv- al). 'Junk Dealer' is any per- son, firm or corporation who collects, buys or sells, either at wholesale or retail for purpose of salvage, any rags, sacks, bottles, cans, papers, rubber, metal or other articles com- monly known as junk. Laboratory, dental and me- dical Launching ramp (Council approval) Laundry Machine or blacksmith shop Maintenance and repair, general (except when person so engaged is paid an hourly wage and proper federal in- come tax, social security, and unemployment insurance de- deductions are being withheld.) SECTION 2: This ordinance shall be published once in the 893 —Page 2 r1 �J Newport Harbor Ensign, a news- paper of general circulation, printed and published in the City of Newport Beach, and the same shall be effective 30 days after the date of its adoption. This ordinance was introduced at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Newport Beach held on the 8th day of June, 195.9, and was adopted on y / - the 22nd day of June, 1959, by the following vote, to wit: AYES, COUNCILMEN: Hart, Lorenz, Somers, Kingsley, Atkin. son, Higbie, Stoddard.
