HomeMy WebLinkAbout1297 - GamblingORDINANCE NO. 1297 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH AMEND- ING CHAPTER 10.16 OF THE NEWPORT BEACH MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO GAMBLING PROHIBITIONS The City Council of the City of Newport Beach does ordain as follows: SECTION 1. Chapter 10.16 of the Newport Beach Municipal Code is amended to read: "Chapter 10.16 GAMBLING Sections: 10.16.010 Gambling Prohibited. 10.16.020 Use of Premises for Gambling. 10.16.030 Operating Gambling Place. 10.16.010 Gambling Prohibited. It shall be unlawful for any person to play or bet at or against any game not • mentioned in Section 330 or 330a of the Penal Code of the State of California, which is played, conducted, dealt or carried on with cards, dice, billiard balls, pool balls, or cues, for money, checks, chips, credit, merchandise or any other representative of value. 10.16.020 Use of Premises for Gambling. No person, either as principal, agent, employee or otherwise, shall knowingly permit any building, house, apartment, room or place owned or rented by him or under his charge or control in the City, to be used in whole or in part as a gambling house or place for playing, conducting, dealing or carrying on any game not mentioned in Sections 330 and 330a of the Penal Code of the State of California, which is played, conducted, dealt or carried on with cards, dice, billiard balls, pool balls, or cues, for money, checks, chips, credit, merchandise or any other representative of value. -1- 5/2/69 10.16.030 Operating Gambling Place. No person, either as principal, agent, employee or otherwise, shall operate., • conduct or maintain within the City any building, house, apartment, place or room used in whole or part as a gambling house or place for playing, conducting dealing or carrying on any game not mentioned in Sections 330 and 330a of the Penal Code of the State of California, which is played, conducted, dealt or carried on with cards, dice, billiard balls, pool balls, or cues, for money, checks, chips, credit, merchandise or any other representative of value." SECTION 2. This ordinance shall be published once in the official newspaper of the City, and the same shall be effective 30 days after the date of its adoption.
