AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH
AMENDING SECTION 10.18.010 OF THE NEWPORT
BEACH MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO FORTUNE
TELLING AND SIMILAR ARTS

The City Council of the City of Newport Beach does
ordain as follows:
SECTION 1. Section 10.18.010 of the Newport Beach
Municipal Code is amended to read:
"10.18.010 Fortune Telling Prohibited. No person shall
conduct, exhibit, carry on, engage in, practice or profess to
practice the art, business, profession, craft, science,
pseudo - science or procedure of palmistry, astrology,
phrenology, life reading, cartomancy, clairvoyance, crystal
gazing, mediumship, spirit photography, spirit voices, spirit
writing, spirit materialization, etherealization, prophecy,
augury, divination, magic, necromancy, or other similar art,
business, profession, craft, science, pseudo- science or
procedure for purposes of telling fortunes; predicting future
events; finding or restoring lost or stolen property;
locating natural resources and products; restoring lost love,
friendship or affection; uniting lovers, husbands, wives,
lost relatives or friends; and receive either directly or
indirectly a fee, gift, reward or donation for engaging in
any said activities."
SECTION 2. This ordinance shall be published once in the
official newspaper.of the City, and the same shall be effective 30
days after the date of its adoption.
This ordinance was introduced at a regular meeting of
the City Council of the City of Newport Beach held on the 8th
