ORDINANCE NO. 84 -18
AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT
BEACH AMENDING SECTION 12.52.060 OF THE
NEWPORT BEACH MUNICIPAL CODE DESIGNATING THE
PORTION OF BACKBAY DRIVE BETWEEN SAN JOAQUIN
HILLS ROAD AND EASTBLUFF DRIVE AS A ONE WAY
STREET IN A NORTHERLY DIRECTION
Section 1. Chapter 12.52.060 of the Newport Beach
Municipal Code is hereby amended to include the following one -way
street in the direction indicated:
Backbay Drive between San Joaquin Hills Road and
Eastbluff Drive. North bound traffic only.
Section 2. This ordinance shall take effect
immediately as an emergency measure necessary for the
preservation of the public health, safety and welfare of the
citizens of Newport Beach in that Backbay Drive is a relatively
narrow roadway, is frequently used by bicycles, runners and
pedestrians, and two -way traffic is dangerous to those persons
who use the roadway.
This Ordinance was introduced at a regular meeting of
the City Council of the City of Newport Beach held on
the 9th day of July 1984, and was adopted
on the 9th day of July , 1984 by the following
vote, to wit:
AYES, COUNCILMEMBERS Hart, Maurer,
Heather, Strauss, Plummer
NOES, COUNCILMEMBERS Agee
ABSENT COUNCILMEMBERS Cox
