AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH AMENDING NEWPORT
BEACH MUNICIPAL CODE SECTIONS
14.12.180, 14.12.190 AND 14.12.200
PERTAINING TO WATER RATES; CHARGES AND
DEPOSITS.
The City Council of the City of Newport Beach does hereby
ordain as follows:
Section 1: Newport Beach Municipal Code Section 14.12.180
shall be amended to read as follows:
Section 14.12.180. Unpaid Charges.
The procedures for collection of unpaid charges
shall be set by Resolution of the City Council of
the City of Newport Beach.
Section 2: Newport Beach Municipal Code Section 14.12.190
shall be amended to read as follows:
Section 14.12.190. Discontinuance of Water Service.
The procedures for discontinuance of water service
0 shall be set by Resolution of the City Council of
the City of Newport Beach.
Section 3: Newport Beach Municipal Code Section 14.12.200
shall be amended to read as follows:
Section 14.12.200. Deposit.
a. In the event that the applicant for
water service is not the owner in fee of
the property to be supplied with water,
or does not own the improvements
thereon, a deposit shall be required
equivalent to 1 -1/2 times the average
bimonthly billing for the user
classification applicable to the
property, as determined by the Finance
Director.
b. In the event that the water service
customer has had his /her water service
terminated twice, a deposit shall be

required equivalent to two (2) times the
average bi- monthly billing for the user
classification applicable to the
property, as determined by the Finance
Director or the turn -on charge set forth
in Section 14.12.150, whichever is
greater.
C. When the deposit has been made and all
other conditions of serving water have
been met, water shall be supplied.
Section 4: This Ordinance was introduced at a regular
meeting of the City Council of the City of Newport Beach held on
the 9th day of January , 198 9 , and adopted on the 23rd day
of January , 198 9 , by the following vote, to -wit:

PLMIER, STRAUSS, HART, COX, WATT
NOES, COUNCILMEMBERS
