HomeMy WebLinkAbout89-27 - Amending Section 12.56.020 of Newport Beach Municipal Code Pertaining to Waiver of Bicycle Registration Fees at City Sponsored Bicycle Safety Programs• ORDINANCE NO. 89 -27 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH AMENDING SECTION 12.56.020 OF THE NEWPORT BEACH MUNICIPAL CODE PERTAINING TO THE WAIVER OF BICYCLE REGISTRATION FEES AT CITY SPONSORED BICYCLE SAFETY PROGRAMS. The City Council of the City of Newport Beach does hereby ordain as follows: Section 1: Section 12.56.020 of the Newport Beach Municipal Code shall be amended to read as follows: 12.56.020 - Bicycle Licensing Required - Non- Residents Prohibited A. No person who is a resident of the City shall ride or propel any bicycle upon any public street, sidewalk, alley, bicycle lane or path, or any other public property, which has not been licensed, and for which the appropriate license fee has not been paid and which does not bear a Bicycle License Indicia as required by the provisions of this Chapter. B. No bicycle may be so licensed by a Licensing Agency or Agent which is not owned by a resident of the City. C. Fees for bicycle license issuance or renewal, as established by Section 12.56.060, shall be waived for all individuals who obtain a bicycle license or renewal at a City sponsored bicycle safety program. Section 2: The Mayor shall sign and the City Clerk shall attest to the passage of this Ordinance. The City Clerk shall cause the same to be published once in the official newspaper 0 within fifteen (15) days after its adoption.
