HomeMy WebLinkAbout150 - Alley Improvements - Plan 256• a • 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 COPY RESOLUTION COPY N0. 150 A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH, AWARDING THE CONTRACT FOR CERTAIN 11IORB ON CERTAIN PORTIONS OF THE ALLEY SITUATED BET'a'EEN CORONADO STREET AND ALVARADO PLACE WITHIN THE SAID CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH. WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees of the City of Newport Beach did on the 24th day of October, 1921, duly adopt a Resolution No. 148 ordering the following work to be done: That the Alley situated between Alvarado Place and Coronado Street from the southerly line of the second Alley northerly of Bay Avenue to the northerly line of the first Alley northerly of Bay Avenue within said City, be graded for its entire width to the official grade and a surface be constructed there- upon of clay and gravel in accordance with Plan No. 256, adopted by Resolution 145 of the Board of Trustees of said City and on file in the office of the City Engineer of said City and in further accordance with Specif'_cation No.23, adopted by Ordinance No. 118 of the Board of Trustees of said Sity and on file in the office of the City Clerk of said City. That the said contemplated work or improvement of said Alley described in Section One hereof, is in the opinion of the Board. of Trustees of said City of more than local or ordinary ptLblic benefit, said Board hereby rakes the expense of said work or improvement chargeable upon a district, which district paid Board hereby declabes to be the district benefited by said work or im- porvement, and to be assessed to pay th6 costa and expenses thereof, v6ich said districts is bounded and described as follows, to wit: Beginning at the northwest corner of Lot Forty seven (47) of a Map of sub - division of Block C, Newport Bay Tract, as recorded in Miscellaneous Records Book No. 5, Page 25, Records of Orange County, California; thence easterly in a direct line to the northeast corner of Lot Th irty -seven (37) of the aforesaid Newport Bay Tract; thence southerly in a direct line to the southeast corner of Lot Forty -six (46) of the aforesaid Newport Bay Tract; thence westerly in a direct line to the southwest corner of Lot Fifty -six (56) of the aforesaid Newport Bay Tract; thence northerly in a direst line to -1- • 40 • 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 the northwest corner of Lot Forty —seven (47) of the aforesaid Map of the Newport Bay Tract, the place of beginning, excepting therefrom lands forming any part of any pbulic Street or Alley. All the proceedings for the aforesaid improve- ment shall be takne under and in accordance with the nrovis'_ons of an Act of the Legislature of the State of California, known and designated as the " Im- provement Act of 1911," and all acts amendatory there AND %`H REAS, by said Resolution the City Clerk was directed to publish and post a no,ti@eeinviting proposals for doing said work as reouired by law and the time for opneing said bids was fixed at the hour of 7:30 o'clock P.M. of Monday, the 14th day of November, 1921, and the said Board did in open session on the said 14th day of November, 1921, publicly open, examine and declare all sealed proposals or bids offered for the aforesaid work; NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved by the said Board of Trustees that the said B•)ard hereby rejects all of said bids except the next heroin mentioned and hereby awards the contract for said work to the lowest, regular, responsible, bidder therefor, to wit: To Ernest Burris at the prices specified in his proposal on file for said work, to wit: For surfacing with cla;r and ;ravel, per square foot 10 cents . AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Clerk is hereby directed to post notice of the award conspicuoulsy for five days on or near the Council Chamber door of the Board of Trustees of said City, and also to publish said notice by two inse`trtions in the Newport News, a weekly newspaper printed, published and circulated within said City and which is hereby designated for that purpose. I, Alfred Smith City Cleric of the City of Newport Beach do hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution, being Resolution No. 150 was regularly intro- duced and duly adopted by the Board of Trusties of the City of Newport Beach at a regular meeting thereof held on the 14th day of November, 1921, and that the same was passed by the following vote, to wit: AYES, TRUSTEESZNJ.P.Greeley, J.J. Schmitken, Geo.P. Wilson, O.H. Burko NOES, TRUSTEES: NONE. ABSENT TRUSTEES: Conrad Richter.
