WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach, at the request

of the Library Commission, has caused to be constructed and oom..

pleted a beautiful library building on city owned property, for

the use of the citizens and residents of'the City of Newport
7
Beach; and
8
WHEREAS, the construction of this building has been
9
under the direction and control of the Library Board of said
10
City, consisting of Tars. W. U. Crosier,, Nrs. Miriam porter,
11
Mrs. Margaret Burlingame, Mr. L. S. 17ilkinson and Mr. H. Lo
12
Sherman; and
13
WHEREAS, through the careful and Qkillful management
14
of the above mentioned Board, this structure has been completed
15
without adding to the tax burden of the citizens; and

WHEREAS, TAr. H. L. Sherman has had personal super-
17
vision of the planning and construction of said building and has
1.

devoted his time to the personal supervision of the construction
1s
of said building r7ithout charging the city for his said work and
20
is therefore deserving of special mention and commendation.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: "That a vote of
22
thanks extended to the Library Board of this City for their

unselfish efforts in bringing.to this City a needed public
24
improvement without adding .to the tax burden of the citizens
25
of this community; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That this Board extend to
27
H. L. Sherman, their thanks for his time, efforts and ability

in the planning and supervision of the construction of said

Library Building;and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That said Library Board

as' a whole be commended for the beautiful public building which i

I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was
duly passed by the City Council of the City of Newport Beach
at their regule.r meeting thereof held on the 3rd day of June,
1929, and that the same was pasted by the following vote, to rit:
