A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
NEWPORT BEACH DECLARING ITS INTENTION TO ANNEX
TO.THE CITY CERTAINPROPERTY KNOWN.AS FIRST
ADDITION.TO JAMBOREE ROAD.ANNEX AND GIVING
NOTICE THEREOF .
WHEREAS, there is situated outside and contiguous to the
City of Newport Beach a certain uninhabited territory within the
meaning of the Annexation of Uninhabited Territory Act of 1939,
said territory being more particularly hereinafter described; and
WHEREAS, it would be for the best interests of the City
of Newport Beach and its citizens that said City annex said terri-
tory; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Newport Beach
as proponent did on or about the 30th day of March, 1959, submit
to the Secretary of the Orange County Boundary Commission a legal
description and plat of the hereinafter described uninhabited
territory for its report pursuant to the provisions of Section
35002 of the Government Code of the State of California; and
WHEREAS, on the 8th day of April, 1959, there was filed
with the City Clerk of the City of Newport Beach a report of said
Orange County Boundary Commission pursuant to the provisions of
Section 35002 of the Government Code of the State of California;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Newport Beach that proceedings are hereby initiated by the
City of Newport Beach to annex the said territory hereinafter
described, which territory is contiguous to the present boundaries
of said City and which said territory now is uninhabited within the
meaning of the Annexation of Uninhabited Territory Act of 1939 and
that the reasons for said annexation are that it would be for the
best interests of the City of Newport Beach.and its citizens that
said City annex said territory and would be advantageous to extend
the boundaries of the City to include Jamboree Road and the area
hereinafter described.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that it is proposed by said City

of Newport Beach to annex said hereinafter described territory to

said City, which said territory shall in these proceedings bear the
4
name of "FIRST ADDITION TO JAMBOREE ROAD ANNEX ". The specific
5
description of the boundaries of the territory so proposed to be
6
annexed is as follows:

Beginning at an angle point in the boundary line of
the City of Newport Beach; said point being in the
8
southeasterly line of Block 51 as shown upon a map
of Irvine's Subdivision, recorded in Miscellaneous
9
Record Map Book 1, Page 88, Records of Orange County,
California, distant thereon 377.65 feet southwesterly
10
from the most easterly corner of the south one - quarter
of said Block 51; thence along said City Boundary Line
11
South 500 091 25" East on a line parallel to the south-
easterly_prolong4tion of the northeasterly line of said
12
south one - quarter of Block 51, a distance of 670.41
feet to a point in the centerline of Jamboree Road, 100
13
feet in width; as described in deed, recorded in Book
4110, Page 10, Official Records of said Orange County;

thence along said City Boundary Line South 820 34t 42"
East a distance of 50.00 feet to a point in the east -,

erly line of said Jamboree Road; thence southerly
along said City Boundary Line and said easterly line

of Jamboree Road to an angle point in said City Boundary
Line, said point being northeasterly of, parallel to,
17
and distant 1320.00 feet, measured at right angles,
from the southwesterly line of Block 56, of said
18
Irvine's Subdivision; thence southwesterly along the
easterly line of said Jamboree Road to an intersection
19
with the southwesterly line of said Block 56; thence
northwesterly along the southwesterly line of said
20
Block 56 to an intersection with the northwesterly
line of said Block 56, said point also being in the
21
boundary line.of the City of Newport Beach; thence
northeasterly along said City Boundary Line and along
22
the northwesterly line of said Block 56, and along
the southeasterly line of said Block 51 to the point
23
of beginning.

FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on Monday, the 25th
25
day of May, 1959, at the hour of 7:30 P. M. on said day, or as
26
soon thereafter as the matter may be heard, in,the Council Chamber
27
of the City Hall of the City of Newport Beach, 3300 Newport Boule-

vard, Newport Beach, California, a hearing will be had, at which
•

hearing the City Council shall hear and pass upon all written
30
protests filed at any time before said hour set for said hearing
31
by any person owning real property within the territory proposed tc
32
be annexed, and at any time before the hour set for said hearing

1 any owner of property within the territory proposed to be annexed
2 may file a written protest against the annexation. The protest
31 shall set forth the name of the owner of the property affected and
4 give a description of the said property in general terms.
5 The City Clerk of the City of Newport Beach is hereby
6 authorized and directed to cause a copy of this resolution to be
7 published once a week for two weeks, said publication to be
8 complete at least twenty (20) days prior to the date set for the
9 hearing, and the publication shall be in the Newport Harbor Ensign,
10 a newspaper of general circulation printed and published in the
11 City of Newport Beach, and
12 a newspaper of general circulation printed and published in the
13 County of Orange and outside the City of Newport Beach.
14 The City Clerk is further authorized and directed to
15 mail a notice of the proposed annexation to all
persons to whom
16 land proposed to be annexed is assessed in the last available
17 equalized assessment roll, at the address shown thereon or as known
18 to said City Clerk.
19 This resolution was adopted by the City Council of the
20 City of Newport Beach at a regular meeting on the 13th day of
21 April, 19590 by the following vote, to wit:
