111 RESOLUTION NO.
2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
NEWPORT BEACH SUPPORTING THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A
3 COLLEGE OF_MEDICINE AT THE UNIVJERSITY OF CALI-
FORNIA AT - IRVINE .

5II WHEREAS, President'Clark Kerr of the University of Cal -
6 ifornia recently indicated that the relocation of the existing
7 California College of Medicine at Los Angeles to the University
8 of California at Irvine is realistically possible; and
9 WHEREAS, the establishment of a College of Medicine at
10 the University of California at Irvine will greatly aid in the
11 ultimate development of the Irvine Campus into an outstanding
12 institution of higher education; and
13 WHEREAS, the Orange County Medical Center, and other
14 participating hospitals in Orange County, can provide excellent
15 facilities for the clinical portion of the proposed College of
16 Medicine at UCI; and
17 WHEREAS, the establishment of such a College of Med-
18 icine at UCI would be of great benefit to all of Orange County,
19 and would provide impetus to medical studies and other health
201 sciences;
2111 NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Newport
22 Beach does hereby resolve that it unanimously supports the pro -
23 posal to establish a College of Medicine at the University of
241 California at Irvine.

Resolution No. 6499 was duly and regularly adopted,
passed, and approved by the City Council of the City of Newport
Beach, California, at a regular meeting of said City Council held at the
regular meeting place thereof, on the 9th day of January ,
