RESOLUTION N0, 6562
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
NEWPORT BEACH DECLARING THAT THE RESERVE OFFICERS
OF THE NEWPORT BEACH POLICE DEPARTMENT ARE DEEMED
EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY FOR THE PURPOSE OF DIVISION
4 OF THE CALIFORNIA LABOR CODE RELATING TO WORKMEN'S
COMPENSATION BENEFITS
• WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach has an authorized
police reserve program which is administered by the Newport Beach
Police Department; and
WHEREAS, Section 3362 of the California Labor Code pro-
vides in substance that active volunteer members of a regularly
organized police department shall, upon the adoption of a resolution
by the governing body of the city in which such police department is
located, be deemed employees of such city for purposes of eligibil-
ity for workmen's compensation benefits; and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Council that work -
men's compensation insurance coverage be applicable to police re-
serve officers;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that reserve officers of
the Newport Beach Police Department are deemed employees of the
City for the purpose of Division 4 of the California Labor Code
and they shall be entitled to receive workmen's compensation bene-
fits in accordance with the provisions thereof.
ADOPTED this 22nd day of May 1967.

duly and regularly adopted, passed, and approved by the City Council of the
City of Newport Beach, California, at a regular meeting of said City Council
held at the regular meeting place thereof, on the 22nd day of May , 1967,
by the following vote, to wit:
