RESOLUTION NO. 6688
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
NEWPORT BEACH URGING THE PUBLIC UTILITIES COM-
MISSION TO GRANT A REHEARING ON THE APPLICATION
FOR A CERTIFICATE OF PUBLIC CONVENIENCE AND
NECESSITY OF PACIFIC SOUTHWEST AIRLINES
WHEREAS, Pacific Southwest Airlines has been awarded a
Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity to provide airline
service between Orange County Airport and the San Francisco Bay
area; and
WHEREAS, the Orange County Airport is presently over-
crowded; and
WHEREAS, the Orange County Board of Supervisors has re-
cently awarded a contract for the preparation of a Master Plan to
determine the future of Orange County Airport, which will not be
completed for at least six months; and
WHEREAS, the Public Utilities Commission has been peti-
tioned for a rehearing on the application of Pacific Southwest
Airlines; and
WHEREAS, the City Council believes that the Public Util-
ities Commission should not consider the approval of the operation
of any additional airlines from Orange County Airport until after
the completion of said Master Plan study;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Newport Beach
City Council requests that the Public Utilities Commission grant
a rehearing on said application and that it give careful con-
sideration to the effect on the people living in the residential
areas in the vicinity of the airport of the noise and inconvenience
which would be caused by additional scheduled airline flights.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is hereby di-
rected to forward a copy of this resolution to the California
Public Utilities Commission, all Orange County representatives in

1W the State Legislature, the Orange County Board of Supervisors, and
all Orange County cities.
ADOPTED this 27th day of December, 1967.
