• A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH AUTHORIZING THE CLOSURE OF
SEASHORE DRIVE ON JULY 3 AND 4, 1979, PURSU-
ANT TO CVC 521100
WHEREAS, each year during the Fourth of July week
huge throngs of visitors come to the beach area to join in
the celebration and festivities; and
WHEREAS, this large number of persons coming to the
beach causes extreme traffic congestion, especially along
Seashore Drive, making it almost impossible for emergency
vehicles to respond in this area; and
WHEREAS, Section 21100 of the California Vehicle
Code enables cities to adopt resolutions regulating traffic,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that pursuant to
CVC §21100 the City Council of the City of Newport Beach does
hereby authorize the temporary closure of Seashore Drive from
33rd Street to Olive Street between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and
3:00 a.m. on July 3 and 4, 1979.
