RESOLUTION NO. 9604 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF NEWPORT BEACH RECOGNIZING THE CONTRIBUTIONS <br />OF FRED DAVIS AS A REPORTER FOR CITY HALL <br />ACTIVITIES <br />WHEREAS, FRED DAVIS has been reporting news, events <br />and personalities at City Hall since he joined the Newport <br />Ensign on January 3, 1972; and <br />WHEREAS, FRED DAVIS has set a high standard of <br />journalistic integrity in Newport Beach for the past seven and <br />one -half years; and <br />WHEREAS, FRED DAVIS was untiring in his efforts to <br />inform readers about their government in Newport Beach; and <br />WHEREAS, FRED DAVIS could never be faulted for his <br />honest and fair treatment of all :issues, regardless of his <br />personal opinions; and <br />WHEREAS, FRED DAVIS is now leaving Newport Beach <br />City Hall coverage to become Manacling Editor of the new Costa <br />Mesa News, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council <br />of the City of Newport Beach hereby commends FRED DAVIS and <br />thanks him for his contribution to Newport Beach through diligent <br />and objective reporting of the news; and <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the <br />City of Newport Beach extends its best wishes to FRED DAVIS in <br />the continuance of his journalistic career, and congratulates <br />the City of Costa Mesa for having the services of such an <br />outstanding newspaper man. <br />ADOPTED this 10th day of July , 1979. <br />Ve <br />t _ <br />Mayor <br />ATTEST: <br />_ I YPIED AS TH ORIGINAL <br />C ty Clerk - QTr CLE= W THE CITY or N4VM0% cnaa <br />HRC /kb <br />JUL 12 1979 7/3/79 <br />®A�, _ ......... <br />
