A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING
SUBMISSION OF REBUTTAL ARGUMENTS PURSUANT TO
SECTION 5014.5 OF THE EI:ECTIONS CODE OF THE
STATE OF CALIFORNIA FOR CITY MEASURES
WHEREAS, a regular general municipal election is
to be held in the City of Newport Beach on April 8, 1980, at
which there will be submitted to the qualified electors of
said City the following City measures:
(a) An initiative measure to amend the Charter
of the City of Newport Beach, Section 1000 and Section 400
to set the date for general municipal elections on the first
Tuesday after the first Monday of November in even numbered
years.
(b) A measure initiated by City Council of the
City of Newport Beach to amend the Charter of the City of
Newport Beach, Section 400 and Section 1000 setting the general
municipal election on the first Tuesday after the first Monday
in November of odd numbered years.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of
Newport Beach does resolve that pursuant to Section 5014.5
of the Election Code of the State of California, the person
submitting an argument in favor of the above- referenced City
measures may prepare and submit a rebuttal argument within ten
(10) days after the final date set by the City Clerk for
filing of the direct arguments on the above measures.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that such rebuttal
0 arguments shall not exceed 250 words and shall be printed and
distributed in the same manner as the direct arguments.
