HomeMy WebLinkAbout2005-7 - Improvement Projects Submitted to OCTARESOLUTION NO. 2005 - 7 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH APPROVING THE SUBMITTAL OF VARIOUS IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS TO THE ORANGE COUNTY TRANSPORTATION AUTHORITY FOR FUNDING UNDER THE COMBINED TRANSPORTATION FUNDING PROGRAM WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Newport Beach, hereby resolves, determines, and orders as follows that: WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Newport Beach desires to implement the transportation improvements listed below; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Newport Beach has been declared by the Orange County Transportation Authority to meet the eligibility requirements to receive Measure M "turnback" funds; and WHEREAS, the City's Circulation Element is consistent with the County of Orange Master Plan of Arterial Highways; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Newport Beach will provide matching funds for each project as required by the Orange County Combined Transportation Funding Program Procedures Manual; and WHEREAS, the Orange County Transportation Authority intends to allocate funds for transportation improvements projects within the incorporated cities and County; 171091 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Newport Beach will not use Measure M funds to supplant Developer Fees or other commitments; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Newport Beach will use Arterial Highway Rehabilitation Funding as a supplement to their existing pavement management program. NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved that the City Council of the City of Newport Beach hereby requests the Orange County Transportation Authority allocate funds in the amounts specified in the City's application to City from the Combined Transportation Funding Programs. Said funds shall be matched by funds from City as required and shall be used as supplemental funding to aid City in the AHRP - related improvements of the following streets: • Hospital Road Rehabilitation from Newport Boulevard to Placentia Avenue, • Placentia Avenue Rehabilitation from Hospital Road to North City Limits, • Birch Street Rehabilitation from Bristol Street to McArthur Avenue, • Jamboree Road Rehabilitation Project from University Drive to Bristol Street, • Superior Avenue Rehabilitation from Coast Highway To North City Limits • Jamboree Road Rehabilitation Project from San Joaquin Hills Road to Ford Road • Bristol Street Rehabilitation from Jamboree Road to Campus /Irvine Avenue Additionally, said funds shall be matched by funds from City as required and shall be used as supplemental funding to aid City in the SIP - related improvements of the traffic signal system, including the following: • New central traffic signal management system • Upgraded traffic signal controllers to be Ethernet ready at 29 intersections RE • Bring improved traffic signals online with fiber optic communications, including connection at the Central Library and Fire Station No. 8 • New system and equipment training Adopted this 25th day of January, 2005.
