Chairperson Ken Drellishak called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m.
1. Minutes of November 19, 2007
Ray Halowski moved to approve the minutes of November 19, 2007, with one correction: Barry Allen was present.
Susan Knox seconded the motion.

Motion passed unanimously
Presentation on Styrofoam Ban and Ordinance by Newport Harbor High School Surf and Environment Class
Stephanie Barger introduced the class, who spoke about the "Human Broom" beach clean -up project and a proposed
polystyrene ban. Committee members posed questions and made suggestions to the class for providing more detailed
information in a presentation to the City Council.
3. Report from Energy Subcommittee
Laura Dietz reported that there was no meeting in December, and reviewed the recommendation to focus on education
from the November meeting. There was discussion on how the subcommittee's work is consistent with the City Council
Resolution establishing EQAC.
4. Economic Development Committee (EDC) Representative's Report
Chair Drellishak reported that EDC received a presentation from Mayor Rosansky and Mayor Pro Tern Selich on the
North Newport Center project and Development Agreement.
5. Coastal /Bay Water Quality Committee Representative's Report
Nancy Gardner that the Committee received reports on protecting the Little Corona tide pools from damage by the
public, and tiered water rates.
6. Report from Staff on Current Projects
Sharon Wood reported on the Hyatt Hotel and Bel Mare projects.
Public Comments
Robert Hawkins advised the Committee to look for analysis of impacts in Draft EIRs, even when mitigation measures
have been identified in the Initial Study.
