DISCUSSION: <br />At 10:00 A.M. on October 23, 2014, <br />BIDDER <br />Low Malibu Pacific <br />2 R.E. Schultz Construction <br />3 ACE CD, Inc. <br />4 Vido Samarzich, Inc. <br />5 Aghapy Group, Inc. <br />the City Clerk opened and read the following bids for this project <br />TOTAL BID AMOUNT <br />$ <br />119,800.00 <br />$ <br />138,500.00 <br />$ <br />148,449.70 <br />$ <br />178,000.00 <br />$ <br />186,300.00 <br />The low bidder, Malibu Pacific, possesses a valid and current California State Contractors License <br />Classification "A" as required by the project specifications. A check of the contractor's references indicates <br />satisfactory completion of similar projects for other public agencies including the Cities of Santa Paula and <br />Lawndale. Malibu Pacific's total bid amount is approximately six percent above the Engineer's Estimate of <br />$113,100.00. <br />The work necessary for the completion of this contract consists of removing and disposing of existing <br />playground improvements; installing and adjusting playground equipment; removing and installing a <br />drinking fountain; and installing flexible play surface systems at six playgrounds throughout the City. <br />Pursuant to the Contract Specifications, the Contractor will have 25 consecutive working days to complete <br />the work. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW: <br />Staff recommends the City Council find this project exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act <br />( "CEQA ") pursuant to Section 15302(c) (Construction resulting in no expansion of facility capacity) of the <br />CEQA Guidelines, California Code of Regulations, Title 14, Chapter 3, because it has no potential to have <br />a significant effect on the environment. <br />NOTICING: <br />The agenda item has been noticed according to the Brown Act (72 hours in advance of the meeting at <br />which the City Council considers the item). <br />ATTACHMENTS: <br />Description <br />Attachment A - Location Mao <br />LIM <br />
