Q SEW PART <br />CITY OF <br />z NEWPORT BEACH <br />CItIFOR´┐Ż`P City Council Staff Report <br />November 24, 2015 <br />Agenda Item No. 25 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />FROM: Kimberly Brandt, Community Development Director - 949-644-3232, <br />kbrandt@newportbeachca.gov <br />PREPARED BY: Jaime Murillo, Senior Planner <br />PHONE: 949-644-3209 <br />TITLE: Award of Affordable Housing Funds <br />ABSTRACT: <br />Request for the City Council to grant Affordable Housing Funds in the following manner: <br />An agreement with Community Development Partners granting $1,975,000 to <br />assist with the acquisition, rehabilitation and conversion of an existing 12 -unit <br />apartment building located at 6001 Coast Boulevard for affordable housing <br />(Newport Shores Project); <br />2. An agreement with Habitat for Humanity Orange County (Habitat OC) granting up <br />to $600,000 to establish a critical home repair program for lower-income seniors <br />(Senior Home Repair Program). It is estimated that approximately 30 repair <br />projects will be completed at various locations throughout the City; and <br />3. Pursue an agreement with Seaview Lutheran Plaza granting approximately $1.6 <br />million to assist with the rehabilitation of an existing 100 -unit apartment building that <br />is affordable to lower-income seniors located at 2800 Pacific View Drive. <br />Improvements would include accessibility upgrades for persons with disabilities, <br />and bathroom and kitchen renovations (Seaview Lutheran Plaza Project). <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />a) Find the projects to be funded to be categorically exempt pursuant to Title 14 of the <br />California Code of Regulations (Section 15301, Article 19 of Chapter 3, Guidelines <br />for Implementation of the California Environmental Quality Act) under Class 1 <br />(Existing Facilities); <br />25-1 <br />
